I'm in the writing mood right now, so I figured I'd get this updated while I had the time. That and I'm just doing laundry and needed something else to do. To business!
Update on my life I like to call insanity....Jon took the MCAT in January and we were all a little nervous how it would turn out. At the beginning of March, the scores came back and Jon did much better than he thought he did! Sweetness! So, while we were waiting for the score, Jon had applied to podiatry schools in Chicago, Philadelphia, two in California, and in Arizona. Jon really wanted the Arizona school and I would love to be some place warm and dry again. Well, time goes by and Jon is invited to have interviews at a couple of these schools. He set up an interview with Arizona and received his MCAT score all along the same week.
So he flew out to Arizona for a quick trip over the weekend and we had to wait until the Friday after to get any results back from the entrance committee. So, come Friday, I get a text at work from Jon saying that we're going to Arizona! Victory!
So yeah, back to the desert and sun! Which sounds so wonderful seeing as I figured I'd never be warm again...this winter has been one of the worst ones ever to hit Washington and of course, its the winter that I moved up here. Heat, sunshine, warmth, and sizzling temperatures! Just what I'm used to. I'm just hoping that Jon doesn't die of heat stroke...
We'll be living down there for about four years or so. Jon has no idea where he would like to do his residency. Somewhere here in the west I think? So where we end up for sure is still up in the air.
I've had several worry attacks trying to figure out how I'm going to get us down to Arizona. I'll need to find a job (full time this time around and better pay) and a place to live. It's ridiculous trying to find something while still up here. I don't want to give up my job now just to head down there and wait who knows how many months until I get a job again. But I need extra money in order to get an apartment. It's a vicious cycle for me. Find another job now, or wait till later?
Mostly, we'll probably wait until we get our student loans figured out. Plus, since Jon finished his class up here, he's going to be looking for a job as well. So hopefully we can save up a little and make our way back down south. I've been apartment shopping and I'm a little nervous ...everywhere I look (that's affordable for us) has their cars broken into, scorpion infestations, bad maintenance, and high fees...le sigh...nothing is ever easy. Luckily, my grandma grew up down there and I also have some relatives and friends down south that can give me a helpful hint as to where the best place will be.
On a side note, but just as important, I'll be starting my masters degree here in May...what a perfect summer to start. Sure, how about a move, a new job and also pass your first class...sure sure. Bring it on. I need to register for my class by next week. Since it's in Maryland, registration begins at 3:00am my time on Monday, 7:00am over on Atlantic time....curses. In order to get the class I want though, I'll either stay up late or wake up early to do it. Hopefully by then I'll have my FAFSA all figured out...I'm going to need the money...SO MUCH DEBT!!!
